Friday 18th May 2012

The weather continues to be appalling for this time of the year. It has impacted on the start time for swimming but we are still hopeful.

This week the Year 6 children have taken their end of Primary tests commonly referred to as SATs. They have worked very hard in preparing themselves for these evaluations. Well done to all of them for their hard work and determination.

On Wednesday we were visited by Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Surrey Mr Saheed, who talked to the children about the Queen and the Jubilee. He was very impressed with the children's behaviour and their knowledge. They represented the school well.

All year groups have had their fashion show, and pictures will be on display at the Horsell Village Jubilee celebration along with a display of portraits of the Queen. Please take the time to read Aleena's book review on Weekly Wonders.

Helping to teach the children to keep safe is an important aspect of the curriculum. Next week you will notice an increased number of bikes as our Year 6 children take part in the level 2 Bikeability courses being held at our school. We would appreciate all parents being extra vigilant and "cycle aware" whilst the children bring their bicycles to and from school each day. They are required to bring them through the main gates so there will be increased congestion on the pavement at drop off and pick up times. Please do be patient at these times.

We have also become aware of one vehicle which has been stopping on the yellow lines to drop off their child in the mornings and then performs a three point turn on the yellow zigzags. This behaviour is putting the safety of other pupils at risk. We again ask all parents who do drive down Meadway Drive NOT to stop directly outside school but instead park further down or make use of the car parks at the Red Lion and Crown public houses. The safety of ALL our children is of paramount importance. Thank you for cooperation and support.

Finally don't forget we have our Communion Service on Tuesday at 9:30am. parents are welcome to attend (please notify the School Office). Have a pleasant weekend.
